How to Stay Motivated

…And Stop Derailing Your Progress

Introduction:

In today’s fast-paced world, staying motivated can be a challenge, especially for women who are juggling multiple responsibilities. Whether you’re striving to leave your 9-to-5 job, dealing with impostor syndrome, or working toward a well-deserved promotion, maintaining motivation is key. In this blog post, we’ll explore several strategies to help you stay on track and avoid derailing your progress.

1. Start with Passion:

The first step is to find a goal that resonates with your passions and values. Pursuing goals solely for monetary gain, without genuine passion, can lead to feelings of dissatisfaction and eventual derailment. It is therefore important to work towards something that truly matters to you and avoid misaligned goals.

2. Recognize Your Patterns:

You want to spend time reflecting on your patterns that hinder your progress.  For years I would quit on my goals and convinced myself it was just impatience due to my overly ambitious nature. In reality this was my self-sabotage that I has masked as impatience. We all experience feelings of insecurity and negative self-talk. Identifying and naming these patterns are the first steps towards overcoming them.

3. Be Kind and Patient with Yourself:

Change begins with acknowledging the need for change. Once I had realized my self-sabotage, I learned I had to ease up on the immense pressure I was putting on myself to be successful. Shifting the focus from external validation to internal validation can help you stay on track and avoid burnout. Additionally, measuring success by personal growth and self-awareness can be more fulfilling.

4. Reassess Your Goals:

Setting unrealistic goals can lead to discouragement. I recommend revisiting your goals and evaluating their feasibility. Reevaluate the timeline and scope of your goals and aim to set smaller, more achievable milestones.

5. Do Your Research:

It is very easy to get swept up with the possibility of achieving what you overestimate your progress. Rather than relying solely on faith and dreams, research the benchmarks and timelines for your specific endeavors. This helps you avoid assumptions and provides more realistic expectations.

6. Take Breaks:

Taking breaks and maintaining a varied approach can help you remain consistent without risking burnout. By taking breaks please note I don’t mean completely stopping activities. Instead, switch to different tasks related to your goal to keep the journey enjoyable.

7. Remember Your ‘Why’:

This has been a game changer for the personal, fitness and career goals I set myself. Knowing my ‘why’ for starting the Fierce Feminine Rising is for well-being and the desire for a balanced life helps me stay consistent. Rediscovering your ‘why’ serves as a powerful emotional motivator. It keeps you committed to your goals.

8. Have Fun Along the Way:

The pursuit of goals should be enjoyable, sustainable, and align with your values. In my personal experience, I find that prioritizing enjoyment throughout the journey, and not just at the end, ensures I stay motivated and prevent derailment.

Conclusion

Motivation and progress can be challenging for women dealing with various life demands. By starting with passion, recognizing self-sabotage patterns, being kind to yourself, reassessing goals, doing thorough research, taking breaks, remembering your ‘why,’ and having fun along the way, you can maintain your motivation and reach your goals without derailing your progress. Remember that it’s not just about reaching the destination but enjoying the journey itself. Embrace these strategies and stay motivated in your pursuit of a fulfilling life.
